Biography

Wilco Kelderman is a Dutch road cyclist, born on 25 March 1991 in Amersfoort. He is 1.85 m tall and has ridden for the team, which was called Jumbo–Visma when he arrived, since 2023. He extended his contract in July 2025 for two more years. Visma’s head of racing has said that in Grand Tours Kelderman is still among the best climbers in the world, and that he has always been dedicated to supporting team leaders.

Kelderman came through the Rabobank continental team and spent the early part of his career with the Dutch WorldTour squad that later became Belkin and LottoNL–Jumbo. He won the Danmark Rundt in 2013, finished seventh at the 2014 Giro d’Italia and won the Dutch time trial title in 2015. At Team Sunweb from 2017 to 2020 he finished in the top ten of the Vuelta a España three times in a row, taking fourth place in 2017, and won the world team time trial title in 2017 with a silver medal in the same event in 2018. His best Grand Tour result is third place at the 2020 Giro d’Italia, where he led the race after stages 18 and 19 before losing time to Tao Geoghegan Hart and Jai Hindley.

He moved to BORA–hansgrohe in 2021 and finished fifth at the Tour de France that year, as well as fifth at the Volta a Catalunya and fourth at the Critérium du Dauphiné. In 2023 he returned to his former team and was fourth at the Tour de Suisse and helped the team to its Tour de France and Vuelta wins that season, with Jonas Vingegaard and Sepp Kuss as the respective winners. In 2024 he was third overall at the Tour de Pologne and eighth at Paris–Nice. In 2025 he completed the Giro d’Italia in 37th place and the Vuelta in 62nd.

The 2026 season brought him a first national road title. On 28 June he won the Dutch road race championship with a solo attack launched 25 kilometres from the finish, ending 1 minute 18 seconds ahead of Bauke Mollema. He said it was the first time he had celebrated a win with his arms in the air since his under-23 days. He wore the national champion’s jersey for the rest of the season, starting at the Tour de Pologne, where he finished 15th overall. Earlier in the year he finished 11th overall at the Tour de Suisse; he did not finish the Giro d’Italia.
