Biography

Anton Schiffer is a German climber who rides for Visma | Lease a Bike. He was born in Cologne on 1 September 1999. The team’s website lists him as a member since 2026, with a contract running to 2027, and describes him as a promising climbing talent.

Schiffer came to road racing late. He competed in triathlon from 2016, including in the German league for the Kölner Triathlon Team 01, and he concentrated on cycling only from 2022. In 2023 he joined Bike Aid’s development team and was moved up to the professional Bike Aid squad later that season. In 2024 he won the German hill-climb championship and the mountains classification at the Tour of Hellas, and he finished seventh overall at the Tour of Antalya. He was also second on the final stage of the Tour de Serbie.

His breakthrough came in 2025. In April he was second overall at the Tour of Hellas, his first podium in a stage race. He took the bronze medal in the German national road race championship, finishing ahead of many riders from WorldTeams and ProTeams. In July he won stage 3 of the Sibiu Cycling Tour, his first victory at international level, and he finished fourth overall. In August 2025 it was announced that he would join Visma | Lease a Bike from October.

His 2026 programme with the WorldTeam began with the Santos Tour Down Under in January, where he was 14th overall. In March he was fifth overall at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali. In April he was 17th at O Gran Camiño and 111th at La Flèche Wallonne, and he was 20th overall at the Tour de Romandie. In May he was fourth overall at the Flèche du Sud. He later rode the Tour de Pologne in August, the Münsterland Giro (60th) on 3 October and the Tour of Guangxi, which he finished 76th overall. The team lists no victories for him in 2026.
