Biography
Bruno Armirail is a French road cyclist who rides for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. He was born on 11 April 1994 in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, and stands 1.90 m tall. He is a rouleur and time trialist who can also climb.
He raced for AC Bagnères-de-Bigorre in 2013 and then joined the Armée de Terre team, with which he turned professional in 2015. After a stagiaire period with FDJ in 2017, he stayed with that team, later called Groupama–FDJ, from 2018 to 2023. He spent 2024 and 2025 at Decathlon–AG2R La Mondiale and moved to Visma | Lease a Bike for 2026, on a contract that runs to 2027.
The time trial is his best-known event. He won the French national title in 2022, 2024 and 2025 and finished second in 2026, and he had already taken the national under-23 title in 2014. At the 2023 Giro d’Italia he wore the pink jersey for two days, after stages 14 and 15, and ended the race 16th overall. In 2025 he won the mountains classification at the Critérium du Dauphiné and at the Tour of the Basque Country, received the combativity award on stages 2 and 12 of the Tour de France, and placed 8th in the world time trial championship.
With the French mixed team relay squad he won the European title in 2023, 2025 and 2026 and the world silver medal in 2023, 2025 and 2026. In 2026 he also took silver in the European time trial championship in Ljubljana.
His first season with Visma brought two team time trial wins: stage 3 of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on 9 June and the opening stage of the Tour de France in Barcelona on 4 July. He was 8th in the Tour’s stage 16 time trial and finished the Vuelta a España in 60th place overall. The team describes him as an experienced rider who supports his leaders in the Grand Tours and also collects good stage results of his own.
