Axel Zingle

Axel Zingle is a French road cyclist, born on 18 December 1998 in Mulhouse. He is 1.73 m tall and has ridden for Team Visma | Lease a Bike since 2025 on a contract that runs to 2027. Visma describes him as a strong classics rider, especially on hilly courses, with a smooth final sprint, and as a good performer in short stage races.

Zingle also raced mountain bikes as a teenager. In 2016 he won the junior race at the Roc d’Azur and took a bronze medal in the junior cross-country at the European Championships and a silver medal in the team relay. On the road he rode for CC Étupes, won the French under-23 road race title in 2020, and then joined Cofidis, first as a trainee in 2021 and as a professional from 2022 to 2024. In 2022 he won the Route Adélie and the Famenne Ardenne Classic, where he beat sprinters such as Tim Merlier and Arnaud De Lie. He won the Classic Loire Atlantique in 2023 and the Boucles de l’Aulne in 2024, when he also finished second overall at the Tour de la Provence and second at the Grand Prix du Morbihan. He rode the Tour de France in 2023 and 2024. During stage 5 of the 2024 race he avoided a crash in the final sprint by bunny-hopping over the fallen Mads Pedersen.

His first year with Visma included a stage win in the Paris–Nice team time trial. On 14 May 2025 he won the opening stage of the Four Days of Dunkirk in Amiens, his first win for the team, a day after a heavy crash. He took the race lead but had to leave the race after another crash in stage four. Earlier that spring a crash at Itzulia Basque Country had kept him out for several weeks.

In 2026 he was ninth in the first stage of Paris–Nice on 8 March and fifth at the Grand Prix de Denain. In May he finished sixth at the Grand Prix du Morbihan and seventh at Tro-Bro Léon, where he was the team’s designated sprinter while teammate Filippo Fiorelli won. In June he took two third places on stages of La Route d’Occitanie.
