Biography

Louis Barré is a French road cyclist, born on 6 April 2000 in Nantes. He is 1.84 m tall and rides for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, which he joined for the 2026 season on a contract that runs to 2028. The team describes him as a rider who uses his punch on short, steep climbs, with the Ardennes classics as a natural target, and as a versatile option for Grand Tour squads.

Barré came through UC Nantes Atlantique and its senior team, Team U Nantes Atlantique. In 2021 he finished second overall at L’Estivale Bretonne and fourth at Liège–Bastogne–Liège Espoirs. In August 2022 he moved to Arkéa–Samsic, and he stayed with the squad, renamed Arkéa–B&B Hotels in 2024, until the end of 2024. He was third at the Route Adélie de Vitré in 2023 and sixth overall at the Tour of Guangxi that year. In 2025 he rode for Intermarché–Wanty. He finished sixth at the Amstel Gold Race and sixth at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, third at Paris–Camembert, and completed the Tour de France in 82nd place.

His first season in yellow and black brought his first professional victories. On 8 August 2026 he attacked on the sixth stage of the Tour de Pologne, a short stage with six categorised climbs, and won alone. He ended that race fourth overall after the final time trial. Twelve days later he won the opening stage of the Deutschland Tour with a solo attack five kilometres from the finish, took the race lead, and finished the week second overall behind Isaac del Toro. After that win he said that the first months at the team had not been easy but that he had always felt its support.

In October he took third place overall at the Tour of Guangxi, the last WorldTour stage race of the year. On the final climb to Nongla he accelerated 600 metres from the line, and only Tom Pidcock and Jarno Widar could follow him; Widar won the stage and the overall classification.
