Biography
Per Strand Hagenes was born on 10 July 2003 in Sandnes, Norway. He has also competed in cross-country skiing. As a junior he won the Norwegian road race title in 2020 and 2021 and the time trial title in 2020. In 2021 he became junior world road race champion in Leuven, Belgium, and took silver in the European junior road race. That season he also won the Course de la Paix Juniors and the One Belt One Road stage race, and finished third in Paris–Roubaix Juniors.
Hagenes joined the Jumbo–Visma Development Team in 2022. That year he won Paris–Tours Espoirs and a stage of the Oberösterreich Rundfahrt. In 2023 he took three professional victories: the Ronde van Drenthe in March, stage 5 of the Four Days of Dunkirk in May, and the Münsterland Giro in October. He also won the opening time trial of Olympia’s Tour. He moved up to the WorldTour squad in 2024 and finished third overall at the Renewi Tour, fifth at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and fifth at the Antwerp Port Epic. The team says he showed his ability in the Tour of Flanders and Paris–Roubaix in his first year at that level. In 2025 he was part of the team that won stage 3 (team time trial) of Paris–Nice and finished fifth overall at the Four Days of Dunkirk.
In 2026 he added two wins to the three he took in 2023, which makes five professional victories on ProCyclingStats. He finished second at the E3 Saxo Classic on 27 March and won the Antwerp Port Epic on 25 May. He was also part of the winning Visma team in team time trials at Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (stage 3) and at the opening stage of the Tour de France in Barcelona on 4 July. On 11 October he won Paris–Tours, which the team reported as a victory after a late attack. His other results include 17th at the Tour of Flanders, 56th at Paris–Roubaix and 103rd overall at the Tour de France. The team’s website lists his contract as running to 2027.
