Biography
Filippo Fiorelli is an Italian road cyclist, born on 19 November 1994 in Palermo, Sicily. He joined Team Visma | Lease a Bike for the 2026 season on a contract that runs to 2027, after six seasons with the Italian ProTeam Bardiani CSF Faizanè from 2020 to 2025. Visma describes him as a fast rider with solid climbing skills. His main job is to help sprinters such as Matthew Brennan in hard, fast finishes, but he can also finish a race on his own.
Fiorelli grew up in Palermo, where his father introduced him to cycling, and he rode for several Italian amateur teams before turning professional. He won the Tour of Albania in 2019, taking the overall title, the points classification and stage 4. In 2020 he made his first start in the Giro d’Italia, which began close to his home city, and he has since ridden the race six times in a row, from 2020 to 2025. At the 2024 Giro he won the Intergiro classification and received the combativity award on stage 3. Visma notes that he has twice finished third on Giro stages. Other results include the Poreč Trophy in 2021 and the first stage of the Sibiu Cycling Tour in 2022, which a Visma profile calls his sporting highlight.
On 10 May 2026 Fiorelli won Tro-Bro Léon, a Breton one-day race of more than 200 kilometres with 29 gravel sections. Visma had several riders in the front group of eleven, including Axel Zingle and Per Strand Hagenes. After Strand Hagenes was caught, Fiorelli attacked alone three kilometres from the finish so that Zingle could save his legs for a sprint. Helped by his teammates’ blocking, he narrowly held off the chasers. It was the team’s first start in the race. Zingle finished seventh and Strand Hagenes tenth.
Later in 2026 he was fifteenth at the ADAC Cyclassics in Hamburg on 16 August and tenth overall at the Renewi Tour a week later, where he also took fourth place in the final-stage sprint in Leuven.
