Biography

Mikkel Norsgaard Bjerg is a Danish road cyclist and time-trial specialist, born on 3 November 1998 in Copenhagen. He is 1.91 m tall and weighs 78 kg, according to his team and ProCyclingStats. He has ridden for UAE Team Emirates since 2020, and the team’s official roster confirms him for 2026.

Bjerg made his name in the under-23 category. After a silver medal in the junior time trial at the 2016 World Championships in Doha, he won the under-23 world time trial title three years in a row: in Bergen in 2017, Innsbruck in 2018 and Yorkshire in 2019. Wikipedia describes him as the first rider to win more than one under-23 world time trial title. He rode for the Continental team Giant–Castelli in 2017 and for the American development team Hagens Berman Axeon in 2018 and 2019. In his last season there he also won the overall classification of Le Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux, as well as the Chrono Champenois and the Hafjell GP.

Since joining UAE Team Emirates in 2020, he has raced Grand Tours, the cobbled classics and the major time trials. His first professional win came in the stage 4 time trial of the 2023 Critérium du Dauphiné. That year he was also ninth in the world championship time trial and fourth in the European time trial. In 2024 he finished fourth at the Tour of Flanders and tenth in the Olympic time trial in Paris. In 2025 he was part of the UAE squad that won the team time trial on stage 5 of the Vuelta a España. He has ridden the Tour de France three times (2021, 2022, 2023) and the Giro d’Italia in 2020 and 2024.

In 2026 he rode the spring classics, from the E3 Saxo Classic to Paris–Roubaix, and then the Giro d’Italia, which he finished 102nd overall. He was second in the Danish time trial championship on 26 June. In the autumn he placed 12th in the time trial at the World Championships in Montréal on 20 September and 12th again at the European Championships on 7 October. He finished fifth at the Chrono des Nations on 18 October.
