Biography
Marc Soler is a Spanish road cyclist who rides for UAE Team Emirates XRG. He was born on 22 November 1993 in Vilanova i la Geltrú, in Catalonia. He rode for the Spanish team Movistar from 2015 to 2021, and in 2015 he won the Tour de l’Avenir, the leading stage race for under-23 riders.
In 2017 he finished third overall at the Volta a Catalunya, behind his teammate Alejandro Valverde and Alberto Contador, and won the young rider classification. In March 2018 he won Paris–Nice. He started the final stage in sixth place, 37 seconds behind Simon Yates, attacked about halfway through the stage with David de la Cruz, joined Omar Fraile at the front and stayed clear to Nice. With the bonus seconds he took on the road, he won the race by four seconds. He finished ninth at the 2019 Vuelta a España and won stage 2 of the 2020 Vuelta. In 2021 he won a stage of the Tour de Romandie, then had to leave the Tour de France after a crash on the opening stage in which he fractured both arms.
Soler joined UAE Team Emirates in 2022. He has become known as a breakaway rider in the Vuelta a España: he won stage 5 in 2022 and stage 16 in 2024, and both years received the race’s overall combativity award. In 2025 he won the Vuelta a Asturias with a stage win and the points and mountains classifications, and took stage 14 of the Vuelta at La Farrapona.
In 2026 he won the opening stage of the Vuelta a Murcia and finished sixth overall at Paris–Nice. A crash on stage 2 of the Giro d’Italia ended his race, and a training crash in August caused a further injury.
