Biography

Felix Großschartner is an Austrian road cyclist who rides for UAE Team Emirates XRG. He was born on 23 December 1993 in Wels, Austria, which his team also gives as his hometown. He turned professional in 2012 with the Austrian Continental team from Wels sponsored by Gourmetfein and rode for it until 2015, when he won the Trofeo Banca Popolare di Vicenza and was a stagiaire with Tinkoff–Saxo. In 2016 he moved to the Polish ProContinental team CCC–Sprandi–Polkowice, with which he rode his first Grand Tour, the 2017 Giro d’Italia. He was third overall at the Tour of Austria that year.

Großschartner joined Bora–Hansgrohe in 2018 and finished second overall at the Tour of Guangxi. In April 2019 he took his first stage race win at the Presidential Tour of Turkey, after winning the summit finish south of Kartepe. In 2020 he won a stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, rode his first Tour de France and finished ninth at the Vuelta a España, his best Grand Tour result. He led Bora–Hansgrohe at the 2021 Vuelta and finished tenth, after winning a stage of the Tour of the Alps in April. In 2022 he won his first elite national titles, in both the Austrian road race and time trial.

He moved to UAE Team Emirates in 2023 on a two-year contract. In his first season he was second overall at the Deutschland Tour and third at the Bretagne Classic. He was Austrian time trial champion again in 2024 and 2025, and in 2025 he finished second at the Tour of Slovenia and won a stage of the Tour of Austria.

In 2026 he helped Tadej Pogačar get back to the front after a crash before the Cipressa at Milano–Sanremo, which Pogačar went on to win. He won a fourth Austrian time trial title in June and rode the Tour de France for Pogačar’s winning team, finishing 32nd overall.
