Biography
Domen Novak is a Slovenian road cyclist, born on 12 July 1995 in Novo Mesto. He is 1.81 m tall and weighs 70 kg. He has ridden for UAE Team Emirates since 2023, and the team’s official roster confirms him for 2026.
Novak was Slovenian junior road race champion in 2013. He turned professional in 2014 with the Slovenian Continental team Adria Mobil, where he won the young rider classifications of the Sibiu Cycling Tour in 2014 and the Tour of Slovenia in 2015. In 2016 he was third overall at the Tour of Małopolska and sixth overall at the Tour of Croatia, winning the young rider classification in both races.
He moved to the new WorldTeam Bahrain–Merida in 2017 and stayed with the team, later Bahrain–McLaren and Bahrain Victorious, until the end of 2022. He made his Grand Tour debut at the 2017 Vuelta a España and finished seventh overall at the Tour of Japan that year. In 2019 he won the Slovenian road race championship. His best Grand Tour result came at the 2022 Giro d’Italia, where he finished 31st overall and was second on one stage. That year he also finished third overall at the Tour of Slovenia, on a podium with Tadej Pogačar and Rafał Majka.
Since joining UAE in 2023 he has raced mainly as a support rider in stage races. He won the Slovenian road race title for a second time in 2024, and in 2025 he was part of the UAE squad that won the team time trial on stage 5 of the Vuelta a España. He has ridden the Giro four times and the Vuelta five times, but has never started the Tour de France, according to Wikipedia’s results table.
In 2026 he raced the AlUla Tour, Tirreno–Adriatico, the Itzulia Basque Country, the Tour de Romandie and the Tour de Suisse, and was sixth in the Slovenian road race championship on 28 June. He then rode the Vuelta a España, finishing 140th overall. In September he was third on stage 4 of the CRO Race, from Pula to Rijeka, and 14th overall.
