Biography
Jorge Arcas Peña was born on 8 July 1992 in Sabiñánigo, in the province of Huesca in Aragón, Spain. Movistar describes the town as one of the best-known cycling towns in the Pyrenees. He rode for the amateur team Lizarte between 2011 and 2015. In 2015 he won stage 2 of the Vuelta a Navarra and finished second at the Vuelta Ciclista a León.
Arcas turned professional with Movistar Team in 2016 and has stayed with the squad ever since. ProCyclingStats lists him with Movistar for every season from 2016 to 2026 and again for 2027. He has no professional victories, according to both the team’s website and ProCyclingStats. The team describes him as a dependable all-rounder who took over the role of road captain after Imanol Erviti and José Joaquín Rojas retired, and says he has earned respect from teammates and rivals alike.
His work is mostly done in support of team leaders, and his Grand Tour record shows it. ProCyclingStats lists nine Grand Tour starts: seven editions of the Vuelta a España (2017, 2019, 2020, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026), one Tour de France (2021, finished 90th) and one Giro d’Italia (2022, finished 60th). At the 2022 Giro he finished third on one stage, his best stage result in a Grand Tour. In August 2025 he crashed on stage 2 of the Vuelta a España and fractured his femur, according to ProCyclingStats, which estimates about eleven weeks out of racing.
He returned for a full programme in 2026. His results include 58th at the Vuelta a Andalucía, 83rd at Tirreno–Adriatico, 52nd at the Itzulia Basque Country, 49th at O Gran Camiño, 48th at the Tour de Romandie and 67th at the Tour de Suisse. He finished 22nd in the Spanish national road race championships on 28 June and 77th at the Vuelta a Burgos. At the Vuelta a España he finished 110th overall on 13 September. In October he did not finish the Giro dell’Emilia, Tre Valli Varesine or Il Lombardia.
