Carlos Canal is a Spanish road cyclist who rides for Movistar Team. He was born on 28 June 2001 in Xinzo de Limia, in the province of Ourense in Galicia, and he is 1.79 m tall.
He came to the road through other disciplines. He was Spanish junior champion in cyclo-cross in 2018 and 2019 and in cross-country mountain biking in 2019, and he started racing with the Galician club Maceda. He went straight from the junior ranks to the professional peloton, joining Burgos–BH in 2020 while still racing cyclo-cross and mountain bikes in the winter. In 2021 he rode the Vuelta a España for the first time.
For 2022 and 2023 he rode for Euskaltel–Euskadi. He won the mountains classification at the Tour de Bretagne in 2022 and had a breakthrough season in 2023, with third places in stages at the Orlen Nations Grand Prix in Poland and at the Tour de Langkawi, and 11th place in the under-23 road race at the world championships in Glasgow. During this period he was also studying industrial organisation engineering at the International University of La Rioja, according to his team biography.
He joined Movistar Team in 2024. That year he was fourth in the Spanish national road race and seventh overall at the Tour de Wallonie. In 2025 he finished second at the Coppa Agostoni, third overall at the Four Days of Dunkirk and fourth overall at the Tour de Wallonie.
His 2026 season brought a stage win at O Gran Camiño, on stage 2 between Vilalba and Barreiros in April. Later in the year he was sixth overall at the Baloise Belgium Tour, helped by a third place on stage 3, and eighth overall at the Tour de Wallonie. He rode the Vuelta a España, finishing 90th overall. ProCyclingStats lists him with Movistar through 2028. His team describes him as a rider who is solid on all kinds of terrain.
