Biography

Albert Torres Barceló was born on 26 April 1990 in Ciutadella de Menorca, in the Balearic Islands. He is a Spanish track and road racing cyclist. He was junior European champion in the individual pursuit in 2008, and as a senior he won the Madison at the 2014 world championships with David Muntaner. With Sebastián Mora he won the European Madison title in 2015, and he won European titles in the omnium and Madison in 2016, the omnium in 2017 and the Madison in 2020.

His road career took a longer route. According to his team profile he was a trainee with Geox in 2011 and Androni in 2012, rode for Team Ecuador from 2014, for Raleigh in 2016 and for the Dominican team Inteja in 2017 and 2018, and had no UCI road team in 2019. In 2020 Movistar Team gave him a place in the WorldTour. He has since raced the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France for the team, mostly in a supporting role on flat stages. At the 2023 Giro his job was to help lead out the sprinter Fernando Gaviria.

On the track he won silver in the points race at the 2023 world championships in Glasgow. In October 2025, at the world championships in Santiago, Chile, he won the omnium with 133 points. The UCI described it as his first individual world title and his second rainbow jersey, eleven years after the Madison in Cali. A few days earlier, on 22 October 2025, Movistar had announced a one-year extension to the end of 2026.

In 2026 he rode the Santos Tour Down Under, the UAE Tour, Tirreno–Adriatico, the cobbled classics, where he was 100th at Paris–Roubaix, and the Vuelta a Burgos. He started the Renewi Tour in August. He is 1.80 m tall and weighs 70 kg.
