Biography

Manlio Moro is an Italian rider who rides for Movistar Team and who came to road racing from track cycling. He was born in Pordenone on 17 March 2002; Movistar’s profile gives his roots as Azzano Decimo, a village in that area of Friuli Venezia Giulia. He is 1.90 m tall. The team describes him as a fast rouleur, an Italian “passista veloce”: a rider who is not a climber, but who handles some climbs well and can win sprints from small groups.

Moro was an outstanding junior on the track. In 2020 he won five Italian junior titles, in the individual pursuit, team pursuit, elimination race, omnium and madison. At under-23 level he won European championship titles in the team pursuit in 2022 and 2024. Among the elite he won a bronze medal in the individual pursuit at the 2022 European Championships in Munich, silver medals in the team pursuit at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, and the 2023 European team pursuit title in Grenchen.

On the road he rode for the amateur team Zalf Euromobil Fior from 2021 to 2023. His wins there included the Coppa Città di Bozzolo in 2021, the Trofeo Menci in 2022 and the Coppa Città di Castiglion Fiorentino in 2023. He joined Movistar in 2024. The team’s profile of him points to flat races and the northern classics as his longer-term aims, and notes that his explosive power was developed on the track alongside riders such as Filippo Ganna and Jonathan Milan.

His 2026 season was a full WorldTour programme. He rode the Santos Tour Down Under (96th overall), the UAE Tour (89th) and Tirreno–Adriatico (138th), and finished Milano–Sanremo in 164th place. In the summer and autumn he finished the Baloise Belgium Tour (95th), the Tour de Pologne (94th), the Renewi Tour (63rd) and the Tour of Guangxi (119th). He did not finish several one-day races, among them Omloop Nieuwsblad, Strade Bianche, Amstel Gold Race and the Bretagne Classic.
