Filippo Baroncini

Filippo Baroncini is an Italian road cyclist, born on 26 August 2000 in Massa Lombarda, in the province of Ravenna. His team lists him at 1.88 m and 74 kg. He has ridden for UAE Team Emirates since 2024, and the team’s official roster confirms him for 2026.

Baroncini spent his under-23 years with the Italian Continental teams Beltrami TSA (2019–2020) and Colpack Ballan (2021). In 2021 he won the time trial stage of the under-23 Giro d’Italia and the Italian under-23 time trial title, and took silver in the under-23 road race at the European Championships. Two weeks later, in Leuven, he became under-23 world road race champion after a late solo attack. He joined Trek–Segafredo as a stagiaire from 1 August 2021 and rode for the team, renamed Lidl–Trek in 2023, in 2022 and 2023. His best result there was ninth overall at the 2023 Tour de Wallonie.

After moving to UAE Team Emirates for 2024, he won his first professional race, the Super 8 Classic in Belgium, in September. He also made his Grand Tour debut at the 2024 Vuelta a España and finished 66th overall. In June 2025 he won the overall classification of the Tour of Belgium, and he was second in the Italian time trial championship.

On 6 August 2025, on stage 3 of the Tour de Pologne, he crashed into a wall and was badly injured. He was placed in an induced coma and flown to Milan, where he had several operations, including an 11-hour maxillofacial operation. He was brought out of the coma on 23 August.

Baroncini returned to racing at the Volta a Catalunya in March 2026. In April he was second on stage 3 of the Vuelta a Asturias. A new crash at Tro-Bro Léon in May interrupted his season again; he came back at the Italian championships in June, where he finished fourth in the time trial. In October he was ninth at the Coppa Bernocchi.
