Haimar Etxeberria

Haimar Etxeberria is a Spanish rider who joined Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe for 2026, his first season in the WorldTour. He was born in Irun, in the Basque Country, on 8 September 2003. He is 1.77 m tall and weighs 65 kg. ProCyclingStats’ specialty scores rate him highest in one-day races, followed by hilly terrain.

As a child he competed in trial riding and was provincial champion of Gipuzkoa in 2013, before switching to road cycling at around the age of twelve. He won six races as a cadet in 2019 and ten as a junior, and in 2021 he was picked for the Spanish national team for the junior World and European Championships. He rode for the Caja Rural–Seguros RGA amateur team in 2022 and for EOLO–Kometa’s under-23 team in 2023. That year a car hit him in training in April and he later broke a collarbone in a race, but he returned to win a Basque race and a stage of the Volta a la província de València.

In 2024 he rode for Finisher, the amateur team linked to Kern Pharma. He was third at the Vuelta al Bidasoa, where he won a stage, and second in the Spanish amateur cup. He joined Kern Pharma as a stagiaire in August 2024 and turned professional with the Spanish team in 2025. His first professional win came in July 2025 at the Vuelta a Castilla y León, where he beat experienced riders such as Jesús Herrada and Christian Scaroni. He was also fourth at the Circuito de Getxo and fifth at the Tour de Vendée that year. Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe announced his signing in November 2025.

In 2026 he started with the Santos Tour Down Under in January, finishing 56th overall. He was 13th at the Figueira Champions Classic and 10th at the Gran Premio Miguel Induráin. In the Ardennes classics he was 81st at Amstel Gold Race, 41st at La Flèche Wallonne and 70th at Liège–Bastogne–Liège, and he was 43rd at Eschborn–Frankfurt on 1 May. In August he finished the Vuelta a Burgos (90th overall) and the Hamburg Cyclassics (70th), and he was 49th at the Bretagne Classic on 30 August.
