Biography
Ben Zwiehoff is a German rider who works as a climber and domestique for Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe. He was born on 22 February 1994 in Essen. In September 2026 the team announced that it had extended his contract, without giving an end date, and ProCyclingStats lists him with the team in 2027 and 2028.
He began as a cross-country mountain biker while studying law at Ruhr University Bochum. He won the 2015 European championship in the team relay, took silver in the relay in 2014 and bronze in 2016, was fourth in the under-23 cross-country race at the 2016 European Championships and seventh at the 2016 under-23 World Championships, and won silver at the 2019 German cross-country championships. The road team first contacted him in autumn 2019. Planned stints with Centurion–Vaude in mountain biking and as a road trainee were disrupted by COVID-19, and he was given a full contract for 2021, aged 26.
On the road his first Grand Tour was the 2021 Vuelta a España, where he finished 47th. At the 2022 Giro d’Italia he finished 51st as part of the team that supported Jai Hindley to the overall win. In 2023 he was second overall at the Presidential Tour of Türkiye and the Czech Tour, eighth at the UAE Tour and seventh at the Tour of Slovenia. In 2024 he was fourth in the German national road race. In 2025 he won the mountains classification at the Tour de Romandie and finished ninth at the Tour of Guangxi.
In 2026 he rode the Giro d’Italia again to support Hindley, who finished third overall, and ended 31st himself. He also rode Strade Bianche, the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, the Tour of the Alps and the Tour of Slovenia. On 3 September he won the opening time trial of the Sauerlandrundfahrt, a 2.2 race, where ProCyclingStats lists him in the colours of the team’s Rookies squad.
