About Team Novo Nordisk
Every rider on Team Novo Nordisk lives with type 1 diabetes. The American squad is known as the first professional cycling team made up entirely of riders with the condition, and several of its staff members have it too. Its stated aim is to inspire, educate and empower people affected by diabetes.
The team grew out of Team Type 1, founded by Phil Southerland and Joe Eldridge. It took the name of its sponsor, the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, in 2013. Southerland is still chief executive, Vassili Davidenko is general manager, and the headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia, according to Wikipedia. In 2026 it races as a UCI ProTeam on Argon 18 bikes.
The 2026 roster, presented in Atlanta on 5 November 2025, had 20 riders from seven countries: Italy, France, Great Britain, Australia, Spain, Belgium and New Zealand. Seventeen stayed from 2025, including the captain Andrea Peron and the climber David Lozano. The three newcomers, Louis-Marie Posnic, Lucas Terrier and Juan José López, all came up from the team’s development squad, as the team announced. In January, Donovan Mackie joined and Alessandro Perracchione left.
The season opened at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in February, with Lozano as leader and López, then 19, making his senior debut. Davidenko asked his riders to be active and visible, especially in breakaways. The calendar then took the team to races such as the Tour of Hainan in China and the Czech Tour in August.
The race that matters most is the Tour of Denmark, which Novo Nordisk sponsors as title partner. Ahead of the 2026 edition, from 29 July to 2 August, the team called it the biggest race of its season, and the rider Filippo Ridolfo described it as effectively a home tour. The results sheet stayed empty, though: ProCyclingStats lists no win for the team in 2026. Our transfer data shows no confirmed arrival or departure for 2027 so far.
